The golden cradle of the Incas (Chuqi = gold, Kiraw = cot), known as the “Sister sacred” of Machu Picchu, is located at 3033 meters above sea level in the foothills of the snowy Salkantay.
It is considered to be the second monumental heritage Inca most notable of Cusco after Machu Picchu. Its sophisticated architecture represents the world view of the Incas.
TAQRACHULLO .-
New excavations carried out between 2019 and 2024 by the Ministry of culture of Peru discovered in this area that includes 17 hectares and is made up of about 600 structures, including homes, temples, tombs, ceremonial spaces, as well as also found with sequins of gold, silver, and copper, showing to be a centre relevant to the Inca Empire.
Taqrachullo comes from the quechua, t acra means “mother rock” and chullo alludes to “frozen water”, the citadel is located at 4038 meters between the rivers Totorani and Apurimac, in the province of Espinar, Cusco, Peru.
